Reunion Message

 

 

Dear DHS Class of 1988, 
It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of our 20 year reunion. Unfortunately, we did not receive the response we needed to fund the reunion and, as a result, have made the difficult decision to cancel. We hope you understand this was not a decision we made lightly. We simply cannot move forward without the funding earned through ticket sales.
As you know, our last two reunions were very successful and well attended with over 100 people at each event. When we started planning nearly 10 months ago, we were very excited and had no reason to expect we would have to cancel given our past success. We utilized many promotional opportunities to get the word out about the reunion including several web sites, Face Book, Classmates, local newspapers, email and word of mouth. As a matter of fact, we had more promotional resources for this reunion than any of our past reunions. But no matter how well the event is promoted and no matter how many classmates indicate an interest in attending the reunion, ticket sales are the only way to have the reunion. As of today, we have sold 33 tickets which is 1/3 of the tickets we needed to sell in order to cover the expenses for the event. Unfortunately, we lost a $400 deposit for the venue and a $100 deposit for the entertainment. However, if we moved forward on the reunion with the current tickets sales, we would lose an additional $3,000—money we just do not have. Please know we waited until the last possible deadline to sell tickets before canceling. We also wanted to respect those classmates traveling from out of town with enough notice.  
We know these are difficult financial times for many people and we also understand how busy everyone is between family, work and other obligations. Perhaps we’ll reconnect for our 25 year reunion! We truly appreciate the interest from those of you who have purchased tickets. You will receive a full refund.
